Field Trips
Lopez Urban Farm is a living classroom where ecology, arts, Indigenous knowledge, health, and wellness come together. Over the past five years, our partnership with Pomona Unified School District (PUSD) has allowed thousands of students to engage with food systems, environmental stewardship, and creative expression—right in their own community.
By introducing structured field trips, we aim to deepen this partnership and honor Ignacio Lopez’s vision: empowerment through knowledge, community, and self-reliance. This program offers students a unique opportunity to explore how food, culture, art, and wellness intersect—and how these disciplines can lead to healthier communities, meaningful careers, and more connected classrooms.
Each 90-minute immersive visit includes:
Farm Tour led by Stephen Yorba and Bianca Ustrell, exploring composting, planting, harvesting systems, and animal care.
Hands-On Educational Activity focused on one Area of Exploration (selected in advance by the school/class).
